Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has unveiled a forthcoming rise in immigration fees for all permanent residency applications in Canada, set to take effect on April 30, 2024.
This adjustment marks a continuation of IRCC's biennial pattern of fee increases since 2020, with the upcoming raise being notably substantial compared to the previous adjustment in 2022.
In April 2022, there was a modest 3% uptick in fees. However, come April 30, 2024, the new fees will see a much more substantial surge, ranging between 12-13%.
This latest adjustment is determined by the cumulative percentage change in the Consumer Price Index released by Statistics Canada over the past two years (2022 and 2023), rounded to the nearest five dollars.
It's important to note that while all permanent residence applicants, except dependent children and protected individuals, are subject to these fees, they are exempt from paying the Right of Permanent Residence Fee.
Principal applicants falling under the humanitarian and compassionate and public policy categories may be exempted from paying the Right of Permanent Residence Fee, subject to specific conditions.
Accompanying family members cannot be included in permanent residency applications under the permit holder class. Individuals falling under this category must apply separately as principal applicants.
