Professions Eligible for Simplified Processing in Quebec: Updated List of In-Demand Occupations

This week, the province of Quebec updated the list of in-demand professions that are eligible for simplified LMIA processing.

The list applies to the entire province of Quebec and takes into account the labor needs of all regions. The goal is to hire salaried employees rather than self-employed workers.

Some of the listed professions are also included in the Global Talent Stream Category B Occupations List. You have the flexibility to submit your application under either stream, according to your preferences.

List of Professions Eligible for Simplified Processing

This list, in effect since February 24, 2024, is updated annually and remains valid until February 23, 2025. A 30-day transition period is granted to employers or their representatives to adjust their applications.

Quebec also uses the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021 to determine eligible positions. Since November 16, 2022, the Quebec government has been applying the 2021 version of the NOC in the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.

As of January 1, 2024, some Category FÉER 4 occupations in the NOC have been added to the list of professions eligible for simplified processing, remaining eligible until the next update in February 2025.

For NOC 2021 codes followed by an asterisk (*) on this list, only specific job titles are eligible for simplified processing. Specific job titles come with distinct tasks, accessible through the corresponding NOC 2021 code.

Other professions and job titles listed are also included in the Global Talent Stream Occupations List. Applications related to these can be submitted under either simplified processing or the Global Talent Stream, according to the employer's preference.
