HOW TO STUDY IN CANADA WITHOUT IELTS

Did you know that it is possible to study in Canada without taking the IELTS exam?

If you want to study in a Canadian university or college and are from a country where English is not the first language you will need to prove your proficiency in the English language. Also, if you are from an English speaking country, you may need to take the test, so don't forget to check your eligibility.

In recent times due to the pandemic and the lock-down situations in many countries,  IELTS' exam centers were closed and Canada updated their Student Visa rules, bringing new solutions to the applications. 

As per the recent updates, over 150 Canadian educational institutions have started accepting the DUOLINGO as one of the proficiency tests!

But what's DUOLINGO?

The Duolingo English Test is now one of the most popular options for college and university applications in the country. Some of its advantages are:

• Online test.

• One hour long.

• Fast results - only a couple of days after the exam.

• Cost-effective: just $ 49 USD. 

But Duolingo is not your only option if you don't want to take the IELTS exam. You can also study in Canada without it if you qualify to one of the following criteria (please remember to contact the educational institution or your educational consultant at eVisa Education to evaluate your profile):

•    You have qualified in other English Proficiency tests such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

•    You have studied in an English-medium school for four or more than four years.

•    You have attended the university’s language school for a semester or for a year 

•    Taking a pathway course.

You might be wondering... What is a Pathway?

A pathway course is an English course but for academic purposes. It's taken before you enroll at university or college in Canada and it will prepare you not only to have the English level needed but also to understand the Canadian educational system.

In the course, you will improve your academic skills and your English language level, with a special emphasis on the academic language that students in Canada use in their classes. 

Also, if you complete the pathway, you won’t need to take the IELTS exam, once it certifies you to have met the educational institution requirements to take classes.
